Charity Choice Monday – Senior Centers – RealChange 60

I’ve posted about Senior Centers, Phinney Neighborhood Association (PNA) in particular, elsewhere.  I think there at least 53 (WOW!!!) in Washington State, if I manged to count the list of members of the Washington State Association of Senior Centers correctly. Many have a thrift shop as a fundraising arm – plenty of opportunities to donate gifts-in-kind! Many of them also double as general community centers, so you’ll see pleas for school supplies, winter coat drives. If you give a call, you might find out the quilting club would be thrilled to get your extra fabrics, or the preschool would be jumping for joy to get the Dr. Seuss books your 30-year-old no longer reads.

Get generous. Cultivate creativity. And a complete non sequitur  – I LOVE LOVE LOVE the fact that Dr. Seuss is now so much a mainstream cultural icon spellcheck corrects Dr. Suess.
