Electronics recycling – Aladdin’s Cave
Electronics recycling opens Aladdin’s Cave: according to this US Environmental Protection Agency report, a million cellphones yield 35,000 pounds of copper and multiple other recovered resources. I’m on this hunt because I’m plotting a Great Race to bounce between clients and a disposal run on Friday.
PCs for People, which used to be Interconnection, is a terrific option.
Living Green Technology, with several locations with generous hours (YAY CONVENIENCE!!!!), although it appears to be a for-profit entity, also looks to be an extremely reputable option. Its model is very similar to PCs for People’s with a bonus – they partner with community agencies to run wastemobile-style disposal events!
1 Green Planet in Renton doesn’t cull workable materials, everything gets recycled. But it’s still an option. And, like PCs for People, it guarantees its data scrub, a BIG plus.
