Charity Choice Monday – Elizabeth Gregory Home – Real Change 12

Elizabeth Gregory Home (EGH). Not “house,” which is what I first typed as I started this review. Home. And that orientation makes all the difference. All of the shelters I’m reviewing in my Charity Choice Monday posts want to be home for the homeless, however temporary. All of the staff want to give their clients a knowledge of belonging which many of their clients have forgotten, or never knew. EGH, sheltered in its turn by University Lutheran Church, serves single homeless women in the greater Seattle area by providing transitional housing, a day center and case management services. In 2017, the Day Center served 615 women for a total of 10,541 visits, provided
12,848 meals and assisted 27 women with accessing housing.

It needs all the supplies which a shelter needs – clothing and toiletries, backpacks and sheets. Commonplace stuff with deep value for people in need.
