Even Better than Tool Lending Libraries
Even better than tool lending libraries??? Musical instrument lending libraries. I learned about these because Vashon Events, on Vashon Island, WA, a beautiful destination for tourists and its year-round community both which I visit every-once-in-a-while, shelters one. Guitars, a hammered dulcimer (an instrument which I will always treasure, a close friend plays one), drums, accordions, sitars, trombones and so much more.
And it’s not alone. Fort Worth Public Library. Brooklyn Public Library (GO NU YAWK!!!!). The Joe Chithalen Memorial Musical Instrument Lending Library in Ontario, Canada, an achingly sweet tribute to an Ontario musician who died young. Harmonny.org, a performing arts center in Watertown NY. Federal Valley Resource Center, Stewart OH.
I’m sure there are many others, but I’m delighted to have made my point. Anything you want to gently let go can find a marvelous home. And generosity helps make dreams.
