Fundamentals of Treating Hoarding Using Evidence-Based Approaches 2026 IOCDF Conference
Attending a clinically-oriented conference as a layperson is a fascinating perspective. I understand many of the concepts, but the most dedicated applications are far beyond my technical skills. With that lens, I, to my gratitude, gained immensurable insight from Fundamentals of Treating Hoarding Using Evidence-Based Approaches with Lindsay Bacala, RSW, PhD Candidate University of Manitoba, Amie Cook, BSc University of South Wales, Christiana Bratiotis, PhD, MSC, Centre for Collaborative Research on Hoarding and Chia-Ying Chou, PhD, San Francisco Center for Compassion-Focused Therapies.
The comment that “‘What is making change feel unsafe?’ is a person with hoarding disorder’s real ‘lack’ of motivation” struck me speechless. I know about the anxiety of decision-making. I know about the anxiety of loss. But that “change” and “unsafe” are paired and in the equation was new and illuminating.
