Blue Envelope Program
Washington State has just adopted a Blue Envelope Program which the National Public Safety Alliance for Individuals with Disabilities supports. The program encourages neurodivergent people to get “blue envelopes” from the Washington State Department of Licensing which allows them to share suggestions with first responders about how to effectively interact with the “owner” of the envelope.
It is intended to make situations such as traffic stops safer for both neurodivergent people and first responders. Versions of the program are increasingly common across the country.
