I incorporated Casual Uncluttering LLC in the state of Washington on October 13, 2011. I’ve put in 288 hours of initial consultations with potential clients. I’ve logged 126 hours of continuing education. I’ve spent over 2,500 working hours on-site with clients, sometimes as little as two hours, one session, and my client is ready and willing to never have me back again. And sometimes 20, 30, even more sessions, dozens of hours, and my client and I make steady, measurable progress. Happy Anniversary to Me!
It’s not about the hours. It’s about forestalling eviction proceedings. It’s about the first time a client called me in tears to cancel an appointment – “I don’t think I need you anymore, I think I’ve learned what I need.” It’s about clearing a client’s bedroom so s/he can sleep safely. It’s about the first time a client doesn’t forget a chore or an appointment. It’s about pearls.
I have FUN. I’m constantly learning. I laugh very often, very well. I get hugs (so I give them too). I’m beloved of many furred creatures. I wish I’d known about this calling 20 years ago: by now, I’d have a couple of webinars online, I’d have all the certifications you can get from the Institute for Challenging Disorganization, and I’d have written a book for kids. I am waaay behind.
